COWWW Software

As the third largest financial institution in southern Oregon, Rogue Federal Credit Union (RFCU) has $325 million in total assets and serves over 40,000 members spread across three large counties. Rogue Federal Credit Union prides itself on being a relationship-based service organization; in fact, their motto is Building Relationships for Life. In addition to their dedication to member service, the credit union has demonstrated a strong commitment to deploying cutting edge technology. That is one of the reasons why they chose the award winning COWWW Software system for their document management and imaging needs.

For Matt Stephenson, Information Systems Manager at RFCU, the choice of COWWW as Rogue’s preferred vendor was an easy one: “I had worked with COWWW at a previous credit union and was confident in doing it again.” Stephenson’s five IS staffers were impressed with the COWWW system’s ease of configuration and low maintenance features. He describes his experiences with COWWW’s technical support team: “I can’t say enough about them – they are excellent.”

Stephenson and his team worked in conjunction with COWWW’s experienced implementation team to get the credit union online quickly and smoothly. “We were up and running in just a few weeks,” he notes. RFCU went with COWWW COLD for their computer output to laser disk system for archiving the reports coming off of their core system; eStatements Plus™ for their member statements; Imaging for their signature cards, loan documents, etc; and Receipts for their receipt capture at the teller line.

According to Stephenson, the “COLD system works great, and the document imaging and scanning modules are easy to setup, and it is very straightforward to add new document types.”

COWWW's unique CrossLink™ system provides the credit union with a single interface to view and print both text and image archives. Matt is quick to point out that the COWWW archive is so flexible that it can handle any file format. In fact the system is so flexible that any image or document archived in the COWWW system can be presented to Rogue’s members with eStatement Plus. “We really like the fact that the eStatements can be presented to our members in two different formats,” adds Stephenson.

With all of the success of the other modules, it is hard to imagine the Receipts application doing much better, but this application really shines for the credit union. They have installed top of the line digital signature pads at their teller lines that show a complete digital receipt on the pad’s display. They can even send marketing messages to the LCD pads during idle times. Stephenson describes the system “as very dynamic but simple to use.” The system is so user friendly and intuitive that the credit union’s tellers received training on a Tuesday and went live the next day.

Tellers weren’t the only RFCU staffers to take to the new system from COWWW. Stephenson emphasizes that “our back office employees love the new system.” With a simple point and click, they now have access to the information that they need to do their jobs effectively without sifting through reams of paper stored in boxes or rifling through file cabinets.” Stephenson enthuses that the “response has been very positive from all our employees. The browser-based interface is awesome.”

The employees at Rogue Federal Credit Union aren’t the only people in the credit union movement that are impressed with COWWW Software. The CUNA Technology Council recently honored the Sparta, MI-based company with their prestigious Best of Show award at the 2004 CUNA Future Forum in Hawaii. Stephenson concurs with their selection, “They have an excellent system that is not only practical, but affordable.”
