SecureSheet Technologies says that their SecureSheet application can turn existing single-user spreadsheets into secure, multi-user Web-based business applications without depending on IT resources to do so. SecureSheet isn't a spreadsheet application per se, although it mimics Microsoft Excel. The solution is actually a database that uses views to present the applicable data in rows and columns like Excel would. Data can be imported into and extracted from SecureSheet quite easily. There are only two spreadsheet functions that aren't supported by this application: pivot tables and macros. In a typical configuration, the spreadsheet data resides in the cloud. However, customers can license the SecureSheet software and put it in their own data center if higher levels of security are needed.
VMware recently demonstrated vCenter Operations for View, an upcoming management tool that will allow organizations that have rolled out virtual desktops to acquire more insight into how their environment is performing, and track possible problems. The goal is to make the rollouts of virtual desktops based on VMware's View platform more straightforward and successful. The solution offers a top-down look at a virtualized desktop environment, showing how storage, user desktops, the View and the vSphere infrastructure are performing.

Tagattitude's TagPay uses the sound-based NFC 2.0 system to securely communicate payment data without requiring an NFC chip. The company claims that thier system also produces dynamic data that is unique to each transaction, making reuse impossible in the event of theft or eavesdropping. The firm explains that the audio signal is actually a one-time password coded into inaudible frequencies of sound. While NFC 2.0 certainly addresses the problem on the consumer end by permitting many more phones to employ the app, critics contend that it may be difficult to obtain retailer acceptance.
According to a report by comScore, the number of Americans using mobile banking apps increased by 45 percent between December 2010 and July of this year. Online Banking/E-Commerce/Website Design
A new report from Javelin Strategy & Research finds that only slightly more than half of consumers who try to open a checking account online do so successfully. They discovered that a quarter give up in frustration and completely abandon the process. As part of the research for the report, Javelin's secret shoppers tried out the online application process for various types of accounts at 10 major banks, as well as five other institutions including credit unions and online banks, and found convenience sorely lacking in some cases.
A new report from Aite Group states that cybercrime and malware cause the greatest amount of pain for North American financial institutions today. The report finds that most of the institutions interviewed feel that behavior analytics is very effective at combating online fraud. Complex device-printing is also viewed as highly effective at combating fraud while minimizing intrusiveness for the online banking experience. They conclude that the challenge is to deploy technologies that balance effective protection with usability; an overly cumbersome user experience may cause online bankers to abandon the channel.

The VoIP Monitor s StressTest can be used for load testing and network assessment prior to and during performance, while the HeartBeat service provides an ongoing monitoring tool for the network s voice quality.
