The SymExchange platform gives MVi the ability to further deepen its integrations with Laserfiche and will now provide Symitar CUs with the ability to pull from and write back data into the Episys database through the use of enhanced Workflows and Business Process Automation.
TTCU Federal Credit Union ($1.9B assets; 135,000 members; Tulsa, OK) has selected Corelation’s KeyStone core data processing solution. TTCU, the second-largest credit union in Oklahoma with sixteen branches, is scheduled to convert in October 2020.

Hitachi Vantara Unveils Massively Scalable Storage Array
Hitachi claims that their new VSP 5000 storage system is the fastest NVMe array on the market. At 21 million IOPS, that’s double Dell EMC’s top-of-the-line PowerMax system, and it maxes out at 10 million IOPS. Hitachi is also proclaiming that the VSP 5000 can provide eight nines, or 99.999999 percent, availability.
Bringing AI to Robotic Cash Handling
Sberbank and Microsoft Research are teaming up to study how AI can be used to train robots to interact with physical objects in order to boost coin counting productivity. The plan is to use a manipulator, video cameras, and an arm grabber to improve occupational safety for operators who remove coin bags from carts when working at cash handling and cash-in-transit centers.

Microsoft Unveils Kubernetes, Microservices Projects
Microsoft has unveiled two open source projects in the microservices and Kubernetes realms. Dapr (short for distributed application runtime) provides a runtime for microservices, while the Open Application Model, or OAM, offers a specification for running applications on Kubernetes and other platforms.

The article states that there are 12 companies that sell core processing software or perform processing services for 9,037 FIs. A handful (e.g., FISV, FIS, JKHY, CSVI) of the vendors own 90% of the market, while seven small companies own about 9%.

JD Power Pulse Survey Reveals Consumers Still Favor Cash Access
Despite a growing trend toward cashless payments, a J.D. Power Pulse survey shows consumers still want flexibility, as 78% of consumers still believe restaurants and retailers should be required to accept cash. In a bit of a surprise, the study shows support for cash access transcending age barriers, as 85% of consumers above ages 60 and 72% of those aged 18-29 feel that cash acceptance should be required.

Elastic Blends SIEM and Endpoint Security
Elastic announced the introduction of Elastic Endpoint Security which is based on Elastic’s acquisition of Endgame, a provider of a endpoint threat prevention, detection, and response system based on the MITRE ATT&CK matrix. Elastic is combining SIEM and endpoint security into a single solution to enable organizations to automatically respond to threats in real time, whether in the cloud, on-premises, or in hybrid environments. Are Wealth Management Services Core to Your CU? Here’s Why They Should Be
More than half (52%) of members prefer accessing financial services at a credit union, but member penetration for investment services is a mere 3%, according to a February 2019 report, “Making Wealth Management Core in Credit Unions.” The report found that when credit unions make wealth management core to their business they can: 1) Increase the share of members helped by the wealth management unit by 29%; 2) Double the revenue production of the wealth management unit; and 3) Increase the net profit contribution of the wealth management unit to the credit union by 56%.

A ‘Thriving’ ACH Logs 9.5% Growth, Adding to a Recent Record of Quarterly Expansion
The ACH system logged 6.2 billion transactions in the quarter ended Sept. 30, up 9.5% over the third quarter of 2018, according to figures released by NACHA, the network’s governing body. Total payment volume reached $14.1 trillion, almost 11% higher than the year-ago period. The latest quarter included one more banking day than the same period last year, so accounting for that difference, Nacha figures transaction volume on a per-day basis grew 7.8%.
