Kingston Digital Launches Hardware-Encrypted USB Drive
Kingston Digital released its latest encrypted USB drive, IronKey Vault Privacy 50 (VP50) with FIPS 197 certification and AES 256-bit hardware-encryption in XTS mode for data security. Kingston IronKey Vault Privacy 50 supports Admin, User, and One-Time Recovery passwords with Complex or Passphrase modes. This multi-password option enhances the ability to recover access to data on the drive should one of the passwords be forgotten.

Eliminating AI Bias from Decision-Making
The financial services industry’s use of machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to skyrocket in the next few years as it strives to deliver hyper-personalized user experiences, improve operational efficiencies and expand product and service offerings. However, the head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has warned about AI bias leading to “digital redlining” and “robot discrimination,” and vowed the bureau would take a “deeper look at how lenders use artificial intelligence or algorithmic decision tools.” This article details some specific steps FIs can take to minimize, if not eliminate, bias in their AI/ML models.

Deployers Are Driving Growth in the U.S., but Overall the ATM Count Is Sliding
Few payments sectors were harder hit by the pandemic than ATM networks around the world, and now numbers released over the weekend indicate that the global ATM installed base continued to decline last year, albeit at a slower rate than in 2020. The U.S. market, indeed, saw its ATM count increase in 2021, according to the data from the U.K.-based payments-research firm RBR, thanks to independent ATM deployers. The firm credits these operations with restarting machines that had been deactivated during the pandemic and with forging ahead with new installations.

Is Google Wallet the Same as Google Pay?
Google just announced the return of Google Wallet for Android and Wear OS, which much like Google Pay, allows you to store debit and credit cards, flight passes, event tickets, vaccination cards and more recently, digital IDs and driver licenses. CFPB Takes Steps fto Address Open Banking
The CFPB announced that it is opening the Office of Competition and Innovation as part of a new approach to help spur innovation in financial services by promoting competition and identifying stumbling blocks for new market entrants.
