Toshiba announced a new line of SSDs under its OCZ brand, and those drive prices are comparable to some of the lowest in the industry based on similar technology. The VX500 series is a 2.5-in form factor, 7mm thick SSD based on multi-level cell (MLC) NAND flash, and uses the Serial ATA (SATA) 6 Gbit/s interface. At a per-gigabyte cost, SSDs are still about four times pricier than traditional hard disk drives.
Aerohive is well known for their wireless 802.11ac access points, but they also have a strong lineup of wired access switches. Microsoft is pushing their store as a new and better way to get software for Windows 10 devices.
Sophos is coming out with Intercept X, its new name for endpoint protection that uses behavior-based screening to detect malicious behavior on endpoints rather than signature-based protection. The package also includes CryptoGuard that makes cleartext copies of files that are being encrypted and that can block processes that are encrypting files if it determines they are acting like ransomware. They also claim that Sophos Clean roots out hidden malware remnants that might lie dormant for a later attack. Intercept X is available now and prices for a one year license range from $20 to $40 per user.
The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a new kind of ATM skimmer dubbed a periscope. In action, scammers use a key to open the top of the ATM and install a pair of devices wired together. Plus it generates a one-time password using dynamic values such as mobile carrier IP address, push ID assigned by Google or Apple, or session ID from the service provider`s server.
The NCUA is getting serious about cybersecurity and plans to build an extensive cybersecurity assessment into its examinations in the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter of 2017. The assessment will be based on a tool developed by the FFIEC and in preparation credit unions must work to identify their risks and implement a cybersecurity program. They should also assess the cybersecurity programs used by any third-party servicers it uses.
The Foundation of Your Member’s Experience
Some social media experts recommend that you reward members for posting something nice about your credit union. For example, you could offer small giveaways to members that post a picture of themselves at one of your branches or community events. You may also want to ask that they tag the credit union`s or event's Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram account or declare the branch/event as their location in the post.
Yandex says that their built-in comprehensive Internet security technology, Protect, will detect if a website is unsafe and will immediately warn Internet users about the risks of entering card information. The company states that their browser utilizes machine learning algorithms to trawl through millions of safe and malicious pages and learns to tell them apart in order to warn the user about a fraudulent website. Their algorithms take into consideration hundreds of factors, including the authenticity of a website`s security certificate and when the website was created, before assessing the authenticity of the URL address.

Seventy five percent of large carriers will deploy SDN (software defined networks) in 2016, according to a new IHS Markit survey. While momentum is strong, most carriers are using small regions of their networks called “contained domains” to explore, trial, test and make initial deployments. The top SDN applications are:
- 70% say virtual CPE/managed services
- 60% say metacloud
- 50-55 percent of survey respondents said services like bandwidth on demand, service and elastic service chaining were also important
Level 3 has deployed Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) Flowspec on its global backbone which allows their clients to better combat distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. The carrier says that BGP Flowspec enables them to effectively shut down volumetric attacks and provide a more secure network for its customers. By using the BGP protocol to distribute flow specification filters to network routers, BGP Flowspec enables Level 3`s DDoS infrastructure to input a rule to block or deny traffic related to the threat by its source, destination and a number of other characteristics. The result is that malicious traffic can be systematically and temporarily filtered off the network.
Qumram`s session recording, replay and web archival solution captures every keystroke, every mouse movement, and every button click, of contact center agents across all digital channels. Every user session – online, mobile and social – can be replayed at a moment`s notice, in a movie-like form, giving an exact replica of the activity that occurred, when, and for how long. The company says that their compliance technology platform also co-exists with the leading voice recording solutions, for a 360 degree view.
