CU*Answers, the Grand Rapids, MI-based cooperative CUSO, and Village Financial Cooperative, the Minneapolis, MN-based start-up credit union, announced that their two cooperatives will be working together in preparation for the credit union’s launch this summer by deploying the CUSO’s CU*BASE core data processing suite.
HP just announced a bevy of PC updates and new features, as well as the formal release of HP Sure Sense, the company's new software that uses AI to help prevent and block malware in near-real-time, including ransomware and previously unknown malware. HP claims Sure Sense is 99 percent effective for catching malware. Meanwhile, HP also updated its ZBook mobile workstation lineup with new 8th generation Intel Core vPro processors and optional AMD Radeon 4GB graphics cards.
While there's no doubt that processors continue to get faster, the days of speed being the cornerstone of a new launch are over. Intel's new 8th-gen Core vPro mobile processors are the i7-8665U and the i5-8365U. While the new chips offers "up to 65 percent better overall performance" compared to a "3 year old PC," and "2x faster launch of documents, spreadsheets and presentations" when using Optane memory H10, Intel is keen to emphases that battery life has been boosted to allow the chips to offer a working day up to 11 hours.
According to Red Hat's first State of Enterprise Open Source survey, open source software is most often used for website development (45%), with cloud management tools following closely behind (43%). Security and big data followed at 42%, with 41% of respondents citing database use, and 38% using open source for web servers.
A partnership among credit unions across Austin, TX, has helped small CUs in the city grow for the last 15 years and is believed to be the only such program of its kind nationwide. The latest TSYS Consumer Payment Study found that 1,200 Americans with a credit and debit card using a P2P payment service popped from 29% to 44% over the last year.
