Consumers View Mobile Payments as Poorly Protected Against Financial Loss

The good news for mobile- payments proponents is that The Pew Charitable Trusts found more than half, 56%, of its respondents had made a payment with a smart phone in the preceding year. Extrapolated, that means approximately 143 million adults had made a least one mobile payment over that time. But many people have a twinge of anxiety about financial loss from mobile payments. Some of this trepidation stems from not trusting the security technology, and part of it comes from confusion about regulations meant to protect consumers from loss.

Faster Payments, Faster Payments Fraud: How to Battle the Bad Guys

Just as payments are evolving at a rapid pace with new providers and payment methods, so is their unpleasant companion: payments fraud. Payments fraud is a subset of identity fraud, impacting both consumers and businesses, and occurs when a fraudster has stolen someone’s credit or debit card number or financial account data. For the U.S. financial industry, tackling the problem means weighing speed versus security, friction versus fraud.

PA Fed President: Digital Currency Inevitable

While Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank President Patrick Harker believes it’s “inevitable” that central banks will eventually issue digital currencies, he warned that the United States shouldn’t be first in line. But Harker said his opinion is currently “in the minority” at the Fed. Two years ago, Chairman Jerome Powell told conference attendees at Yale Law School that digital currencies issued by a central bank would become global targets for cyberattacks, cyber counterfeiting and cybertheft.

Cloud Architecture That Avoids Risk and Complexity

The author contends that the architecture team layers on more technology than necessary or doesn’t take advantage of cloud-native features. This means that the applications burn ten times more public cloud resources. He also notes that overengineering of the cloud solution can cause additional unnecessary complexity, which can lead to more attack surfaces for hackers and the additional likelihood that data on premises or in the cloud will be breached. He claims that he spends most of his time reviewing architectures and deleting 30 percent to 50 percent of the enabling technology in order to lower these drawbacks.

Finn.AI's New Integration Makes Chatbots More Personal

Employee Engagement in the Contact Center: Metrics and Drivers

There is no universal definition of employee engagement, yet there seems to be universal agreement that employee engagement and employee job satisfaction are highly correlated. Employee engagement is a complex set of behaviors driven by numerous contact center practices that can be hard to quantify. These include employee recognition, wellness, personal growth, team huddles, and relationships with peers. Employee job satisfaction, by contrast, is a metric that by definition, is quantifiable.
