$1.4 Billion WESTconsin CU Selects Corelation’s KeyStone

WESTconsin Credit Union ($1.4 billion assets; 101,200 members; Menomonie, WI) has selected Corelation’s KeyStone core system. WESTconsin Credit Union is scheduled to convert in September 2021.



Desert Financial CU Partners with TCI

TCI, the provider of DecisionLender 4 (DL4), a consumer loan origination platform, announced that Desert Financial CU has entered into a new partnership with TCI for indirect, direct and online lending. Desert Financial is the largest CU in Arizona and has $5 billion in assets, more than 320,000 members and nearly 50 locations throughout the state.

Contactless Self-Service Lockers Now Available for FIs

FTSI has introduced a new product, Smart Lockers for Banking, that offers contactless self-service. This accountholder-facing smart locker technology was designed specifically for FIs and can deliver debit cards, cashier checks, coin orders and documents at an integrated area within the branch location, outside the branch or at a hub location. Accountholders can interact longer at the locker and are not limited to traditional branch hours.



ATMs Sprayed with Self-Coating Disinfectant

Singapore's UOB is spraying its ATMs with an anti-microbial, self-disinfecting coating that is able to kill germs and bacteria that come into contact with it and lasts for up to six months. They also coat high-touch areas at all of its branches with the commercial grade self-disinfecting coating.

What Is Pretexting? Definition, Examples and Prevention

Pretexting is form of social engineering in which an attacker tries to convince a victim to give up valuable information or access to a service or system. The distinguishing feature of this kind of attack is that the scam artists comes up with a story — or pretext — in order to fool the victim. The pretext generally casts the attacker in the role of someone in authority who has the right to access the information being sought, or who can use the information to help the victim.

Missouri CUs Join Forces for COVID-19 Financial Education

The Heartland Credit Union Association, the trade association for credit unions in Kansas and Missouri, has issued grants to the $300 million, O’Fallon, MO-based West Community CU and $319 million St. Louis Community CU with the goal of providing online financial literacy classes and remote one-on-one financial coaching to local communities.

US Must Look to ‘Future Proof’ the Dollar with a CBDC

Accenture and the Digital Dollar Foundation have published a whitepaper laying out proposals for the development of a central bank digital currency (CBDC) in the US. The whitepaper points to the possibilities of enhancing competition in international payments and integrating financial markets, which would appear to be a statement of intent regarding the importance of the dollar retaining the status it has enjoyed for decades as the world’s de facto currency. The whitepaper concludes that the US must decide the role it wishes to play as this “wave of digital token innovation gains momentum” and questions over the dollar’s ability to remain a default analog instrument and unit of account.



Greater Nevada CU Launches Virtual Bite of Reality

Greater Nevada CU has developed a solution to keep a free financial education program, which has served thousands of local students for more than eight years, running through new virtual channels.
