CO-OP, Zelle Partnership Could Bring P2P Payments to Small CUs

CO-OP announced plans to give member CUs another P2P payments choice by partnering with Zelle. The Scottsdale, AZ-based fintech is a payments behemoth, having moved $133 billion on 519 million transactions in the first six months of 2020.

Fiserv Releases New Account Aggregation Solution

Fiserv has introduced a new account aggregation solution called AllData. According to the company, AllData Connect enables consumer data consent by directing consumers to a Fiserv-hosted portal where they validate their identity and provide consent to share their data.

Intel Unveils Entirely New Platform Brand, Intel Evo, Based on Tiger Lake

Intel has debuted an entirely new platform brand, Intel Evo, based on 11th Gen Core processor known as "Tiger Lake." The Tiger Lake processor is designed to be "the world's best processor for thin and light laptops," according to Intel.

Pure Storage Unveils an All-Flash Hybrid-Storage Killer

HDDs from Seagate and Western Digital are pushing into the 20TB range for a whole lot less than a comparable flash drive. But Pure Storage thinks the second generation of its FlashArray//C storage platform will be a hybrid flash/disk storage killer because it has the capacity to match a hybrid array with an all-flash storage setup. The pitch is that with FlashArray//C's capacity, organizations can do away with hard-drive-based storage, which draws much more power than SSDs and generates far more heat.

The State Bank of India is debuting a mobile facility it's calling "the doorstep ATM" to service people at home, especially the elderly and those with special needs that have curtailed banking due to the coronavirus. The service provides a range of pickup and delivery services including cash pickup and delivery; check pickup and additional document pickups.

More than 50 Consumer Groups Urge Congress to Pass Bill Requiring Retailers to Accept Cash

A consortium of 51 consumer, privacy, and civil rights groups have sent a letter to Senators expressing support for legislation they have introduced, the Payment Choice Act, H.R. 2650 and S. 4145, which would prohibit brick-and-mortar retailers from refusing to accept cash or charging consumers more for paying with cash. They point to a report released by the Federal Reserve in May 2020 that shows that nearly a quarter of U.S. adults were either underbanked or unbanked last year.

The pandemic has led to an expansion of the ways business owners use mobile banking apps, with some observers noting an uptick in SMB loan applications and management via mobile devices in recent months. Some FIs are offering offering simplified mobile versions of the more complex functions they provide via desktop. For instance, a small business may not be able to efficiently conduct forecasting models based on sales forecasts on a mobile device, but the small screen does allow SMB owners to view the results of those forecasting models.

Microsoft Has Made Securing Windows 10 PCs a Whole Lot Easier for IT Admins

Microsoft has introduced a new, 'streamlined' setup experience that allows admins to apply security settings on an organization-wide scale via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. This includes activating Windows Defender Antivirus for all users, web filtering and protecting files and folders on PCs with BitLocker Drive Encryption. The feature has been built "with small and medium-sized businesses in mind" and is available to customers using Microsoft 365 Business Premium.

Biometrics company Fingerprint Cards AB (Fingerprints) has launched the second generation of its T-Shape sensor and software platform for contactless biometric payment cards. Cisco, VMware, CloudGenix, Fortinet and Silver Peak are the cream of the crop in GigaOm's first Radar SD-WAN report. Among other SD-WAN topics, the report also said secure access service edge (SASE) has picked up steam this year after Gartner analysts coined the phrase last year. SASE blends SD-WAN, security functions, such as zero trust, and subscriber policies to, among other things, enable users to access their connectivity services safely from anywhere.
