The firm says that currently about 80% to 90% of network traffic is encrypted and predicts that by the end of 2025, it will be almost all traffic. The Payment Success Indicator and Payment Routing Optimizer use advanced data analytics and machine learning to make the payment experience safer and smarter. Using real-time FI account information permissioned by the consumer, Payment Success Indicator lets the payment originator — a merchant, a FI, a digital wallet, or payment service providers — assess a consumer’s balance and historical behavioural risk patterns for each transaction. The Payment Routing Optimizer interprets that score and recommends the optimal day and payment rail (such as Same Day ACH or Next Day ACH) taking into account cost, speed and risk.

Digital IDs Become More Critical as Online & Mobile Banking Dominate

The Global Assured Identity Network is an international group that is developing a cross-border approach to digital identity that it plans to launch for potential use in late 2022. Meanwhile a number of states are adopting digital driver’s licenses that can be stored on a mobile device. This could facilitate digital identification for those license holders in other contexts besides driving. (Some states have their own programs while others are working with Apple. Google is reported to be developing a program that would incorporate digital driver’s licenses.) However, a recent Forrester report stated that many people around the world have low trust in government agencies and that any government role in a country’s digital identity program would be a negative for getting it off the ground.
