Better Branches Launches Appointment Assistant

Better Branches Technology, the provider of Better Lobby branch visitor queuing and appointment handling software for credit unions, announced the release of Appointment Assistant which is the latest addition to their CU industry-leading Better Lobby visitor management system. Developed using input from CU clients, the Appointment Assistant is: 1) a staff-facing feature that enables credit union employees to easily book a member appointment in Better Lobby using member information contained the application; 2) capable of sending notifications to both staff and members by email and/or text upon completion of booking the appointment and 3) similar in function to the Better Branches’ popular Mobile Booking Tool (MBT), but it does not require the MBT be installed to function.

Centris Federal Credit Union, one of Nebraska’s largest CUs, has selected OnBase by Hyland, a leading content services platform, to replace its legacy document management application. The conversion plan will run in parallel with Centris’ implementation of its new core banking application, Corelation KeyStone. Once implemented, OnBase will seamlessly integrate with its new core system to capture, store and share information across the CU.

Intel announced a new Optane 800P SSD, which uses Intel's Optane technology to speed up app loading times and reduce latency. However, the high performance of the Optane 800P comes at a price - it starts at $129 for only 58GB of storage. Optane is a combination of hardware and software that Intel uses to reduce latency and cache essential data.

FICO Data: 10 Percent More Debit Cards Were Compromised in U.S. Last Year

There was a 10 percent increase in the number of payment cards compromised at US ATMs and merchants in 2017, Silicon Valley analytic software firm FICO reported. The number of compromised card readers at ATMs, restaurants and merchants rose 8 percent in 2017. FICO's data comes from the FICO Card Alert Service, which monitors hundreds of thousands of ATMs and other readers in the US. These figures cover only card fraud occurring at physical devices, not online card fraud.

Check Point Software Technologies announced the CloudGuard product family to help protect organizations from Gen V cyber attacks on cloud applications and infrastructure. The company is also introducing CloudGuard SaaS to help protect against cyber attacks on SaaS applications. According to Check Point research, half of all breaches of enterprise SaaS applications are the result of account hijacks.



While Fraud Continues to Impact Lenders, the Rate of Growth Is Diminishing

A new TransUnion analysis found that the growth in outstanding balances of suspected synthetic fraud in the credit card market is slowing in large part due to recently focused efforts by issuers to prevent such instances of fraud.
