Could UV-C Light Technology Change the Game for Resuming Business Safely?

In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Cook Security Group has released a lab-tested Ultraviolet Light Sanitizing Cabinet that they claim kills up to 99% of microorganisms such as viruses, germs, bacteria and airborne pathogens in 15 minutes. The cabinets were initially created to sterilize the carriers, audio consoles and headsets used for drive-up banking, but the company has also developed ways to use the technology for sanitizing cash counters, night deposit bags, keyboards and other frequently touched office equipment.



Dell Releases New XPS 17 Laptop

Dell claims that that the XPS 17 is the smallest 17-inch laptop on the planet. While the laptop is incredibly thin, at a 19.55mm design, it still has a 45W 10th generation Intel Core processor up to i7, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics, and up to 64GB of memory: A total of 92W of power. It starts at $1,499.

ATM Fleets Feeling the Brunt Force of COVID-19

Nearly half of the respondents to a survey on the effects of the coronavirus on the ATM industry said they’ve only been able to operate 75% of their machines during the pandemic. About 27% of those surveyed reported being forced to get by with less than 50% of their ATMs in operation. Twenty-three percent of that group said they’ve had to survive with less 25% of their ATM fleet up and running. And a quarter of those surveyed reported that they been able to run 50% to 75% of their ATM fleet. The survey respondents included Independent ATM Deployers (39% of the respondents), hardware and software vendors (19% of respondents) and banks and CUs (14% of respondents), according to the ATMIA.



Laboratory Confirms Kastus Anti-Microbial Coating Effective Against Coronavirus

A patented surface-coating technology developed by Irish company Kastus is shown to be effective against human coronavirus on treated surfaces, an independent global testing laboratory has confirmed, according to a press release. Founded in 2014, this antimicrobial surface-coating technology can be applied across everything from smartphones and touchscreen kiosks to screen protectors and ceramic tiles.

On average, one in every 250 corporate accounts is compromised each month. The expense of passwords grows as companies adopt more business applications. Now companies dedicate 30% to 60% of their support desk calls to resetting passwords. Microsoft Identity VP Joy Chik said that they reached over 150 million unique users on a monthly basis using passwordless options as a way to authenticate against services and applications. Before they are provisioned with passwordless authentication, Microsoft recommends that employees should go through a pilot program or proof-of-concept so they can test the technology before adopting it.
