SmartNICs Set to Infiltrate Enterprise Networks
Use of smartNICs in the enterprise is still evolving, but the idea behind them--offloading server CPU duties onto a separate device to free up server cycles--is not new. Many data-center applications need lots of resources to run properly, and smartNICs can help with that. Many organizations also are looking to bring down the cost of infrastructure by running more and more virtual machines while supporting denser traffic from ever-dense servers--all use-cases smartNICs can handle.

Two, Huawei and Fortinet, were named visionaries. This article guide will help steer you through the process of buying Wi-Fi 6 gear.

Microsoft Teams Essentials Is a New Standalone Version
Microsoft is creating its first standalone version of Microsoft Teams for small businesses. Microsoft Teams Essentials will be priced at $4 per user per month and provide access to the core meeting features of Teams without the typical Office app bundling that requires a more expensive Microsoft 365 plan. This standalone version makes Teams even more of a Zoom competitor, as Microsoft is dropping its Slack-like channels functionality in favor of a more simplified chat interface and a focus on meetings and video calls.

Fixed Wireless Access Will Creep Further into Broadband's Territory in 2022
Deloitte is predicting a big 2022 for fixed wireless access service (FWA), which uses cellular data signals to deliver broadband Internet, and expects the number of FWA connections to grow from the 60 million recorded in 2020 to 82 million over the course of next year. "5G's deeper network infrastructure and greater spectral efficiency significantly improve the economics and technical feasibility of FWA deployments and can thus support new deployment and revenue opportunities," Deloitte said.

Zero Trust Could Be the Key to Defending Against Ransomware Attacks
Zero-trust architecture is set to increase the efficiency of cybersecurity solutions to stop data breaches by 144%, a new report has claimed. Symmetry Systems found the majority of surveyed organizations said that the main motivator for the deployment of zero-trust architecture is trying to combat ransomware attacks. Zero-trust allows for the elimination of one point of failure, during a data breach. Even if malicious actors get their hands on login credentials, database locations or IPs, with zero-trust integration that information is useless, as they’re barred from accessing information given to application roles, cloud-network perimeters, or Identity and Access Management (IAM).
Malware Variants in 2021: Harder to Detect and Respond To
Malware is rapidly becoming more sophisticated. In 2020, on average, 9 malicious actions were exhibited by a single malware file, a figure which has risen to 11 actions per file in 2021. Additionally, 2021 has seen a spike in malicious malware designed to encrypt a target’s data. Another alarming trend: some malware variants can change their behavior in a virtual machine environment or sandbox, which helps them evade detection and analysis.

U.S. Credit Card Use Returning to Pre-Pandemic Patterns
U.S. consumers are spending more and ramping up credit card balances, reversing a shift during the COVID-19 crisis, when they scaled back spending and substantially paid down debt, according to a new Federal Reserve Bank of New York report. While credit card use appears to be returning to pre-pandemic patterns, balances were still $123 billion lower than at the end of 2019. Credit card issuance for lower credit score borrowers is back to pre-pandemic levels after declining at the start of the crisis. The median credit score for new mortgages and auto loans declined slightly in the third quarter, but was still high by historic standards, researchers said.

He says that phone and voice aren’t the same thing and recommends replacing phone numbers with on-screen voice. He concludes that it is time for FIs to meet their accountholders where they are on their screens for every part of the service interaction, including virtual service and automated elements (like chatbots) and live assistance.
