Thales says that their contactless biometric card simplifies proximity payments and also provides an essential level of privacy and confidence. Why Central Banks Want to Get into Digital Currencies
With the use of physical cash dwindling, particularly after a year of lockdowns, interest has turned to central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) once more. Over 60 central banks have been looking into CDBCs since 2014, with several already at the trialling stage. This article states that much of the interest in CBDCs revolves around governments wanting to retain control over monetary systems they fear are ripe for disruption by digital assets. 58% of consumers are linked to another platform or service, according to the latest survey of more than 1,000 Americans from LendingTree. Consumers link their accounts to platforms or services for mobile payments, budget tracking, investing and more. Nearly a third (32%) of those with a linked FI account have been involved in a data breach due to the connection. Surprisingly, most (64%) continued to keep their account connected despite the breach.
