Larger credit unions looking to reduce traditional HR costs may want to consider an HR kiosk. For example, Phoenix Kiosk's self-service HR solution gives your employees instant and direct access to their most essential needs while helping to automate the HR platform process. The HR Kiosk can help with job applicants and can also be deployed in remote locations where it is cost prohibitive to staff HR personnel full-time.

NCR recently issued a security advisory warning about ATMs that have network communications cables in a publicly accessible location. There have been cases where scammers have attached a device to the cable in attempt to capture communications. The fraudsters also attach a device to the ATM in order to capture PINs, e.g., a keyboard overlay was used in an attack on an NCR ATM, while a concealed camera was used on a Diebold ATM.

Wireless World

Google is partnering with Movidius, a computer vision company, to develop software that will allow smartphones to recognize the images users capture via their phone`s camera. With built-in image recognition and "deep learning" algorithms, smartphones could identify objects in real time for a variety of applications. For example, they could be used in applications to rapidly identify people to authorize payments or mobile banking transactions.

According to a Retale survey of 1,000 consumers, 83 percent of consumers think mobile payments are convenient, compared to 76 percent in 2014. However, 59 percent of respondents are worried about data breaches and privacy, and 55 percent are worried about possible theft or loss of the mobile device. Half of the respondents said they would most likely use PayPal for in-store mobile payments, followed by their primary FI's mobile payment app, Apple Pay, Android Pay, and the retailer's app.

Call Centers

VoicePIN has developed technology that converts a person`s voice into an algorithm and then stores the data as an encrypted set of data. This in turn allows a person to log onto a system securely without having to use a password or pin code. Using unique voice characteristics, VoicePIN allows callers to access personal data sans usernames and passwords, and it helps to reduce the risk of data hijacking and identity theft. The Krakow, Poland-based company says that their solution is designed for FIs and call centers.
