Many people are looking for advanced displays to show up in Windows 10 machines. However, Dell has suggested that they won't be able to incorporate OLED screens into Windows 8 laptops or tablets due to lack of native support for the screen type. The company also hinted that it would bring together Windows 10 and OLED displays in the future, though it didn't reveal exact plans. OLED screens are used mostly in TVs, tablets and smartphones, but not yet in Windows PCs.

Mercator Advisory Group`s most recent Insight Report from the bi-annual CustomerMonitor Survey Series reveals that as usage of mobile banking rises in the United States, more consumers are switching their primary financial institutions. Young adults and mobile banking users are most likely to switch, in part to gain more robust mobile banking services. Now, 3 in 5 U.S. consumers perform banking activities using their mobile phone and/or tablet, up from nearly half who did so in 2013 and one-third who did so in 2012. Mobile-based money transfer to another person`s account is one of the fastest growing mobile banking activities, doubling in usage in the U.S. from 2013 to 2014.
According to Verizon's enterprise security group, mobile cyberattacks are relatively rare and mobile malware is currently relatively benign. Verizon, analyzing data from its Verizon Wireless unit, couldn't gather enough data on Apple iOS malware to deliver any findings; meanwhile most of the malware issues on Android revolve around adware.
FinalCode offers an enterprise-grade file security solution. The company says that their solution is application-, device-, storage-, cloud-, content management- and collaboration-agnostic. In action, users define file security settings and respective recipients, or have such controls applied automatically through corporate policy. The FinalCode client encrypts the file, and the FinalCode server manages keys and permissions. File recipients download a small FinalCode client after secure registration with the FinalCode server in order to have access to and use of the file according to policy.
Silicon Valley startup GhangorCloud says that their solution is designed to effectively stop advanced persistent threats (APTs). The software comes built-in with a variety of preset classifications that identify private data, such as SSNs and credit cards. The user also can create their own rules to identify specific data types to be classified. The GhangorCloud acts as a proxy server, essentially an authorized man-in-the-middle, which has the right to inspect the data as it exits the network, even encrypted data. Using the software's rules, the data can be analyzed to ensure that the VPN is valid and that only authorized data is leaving the network. The software is also able to eliminate any cross-talk in a virtual environment to help ensure that unauthorized servers do not share data.
According to a recent survey by CompTIA, human error accounts for 52 percent of root causes of security breaches, while technology errors account for 48 percent. Meanwhile, the SANS Institute just released its own survey showing that negligent employees accounted for the majority of concerns that companies had about insider threats, more than malicious employees, and all contractors, clients, partners and other affiliates combined. Some security experts say that these results call for more employee training, while other believe that technology can help - especially continuous risk monitoring through automated analytics.

As branch traffic decreases, some observers believe that credit unions must look to their mobile banking vendors for marketing assistance. That is because many users check their mobile banking app daily and this time can add up to almost an hour a month of viewing. In response, some mobile banking providers are now emphasizing strong, Amazon-like marketing functionality within their products. Proponents say that well-designed mobile ads and offers can drive product and services sales.
Prepaid cards continue to gain in popularity, especially among younger people, and in their feature sets. One recent survey revealed that 60 percent of millennials would consider prepaid cards, versus 49 percent of respondents overall. Other consumers use prepaid cards in addition to traditional checking accounts, and find them convenient when they travel. Others cited security and privacy concerns as top reasons for using prepaid cards.
In an attempt to find ways to make transactions more efficient, Bank of New York Mellon has begun experimenting with blockchain technology. The blockchain is seen as the main technological innovation of Bitcoin, since it stands as proof of all the transactions on the network. A block is the ‘current` part of a blockchain which records some or all of the recent transactions, and once completed goes into the blockchain as permanent database. BNY Mellon built an application using open source code from Bitcoin.org, modified it to run on their internal network. For the time being, they will use the platform internally for an incentive program, with IT managers handing them out to staff, who can then redeem them for gift cards and vouchers.
Birch Grove Software`s ActivTrak is a cloud-based monitoring software that allows employers of on-site and remote workers to monitor web and application usage, better improving performance and work-place control. You install an agent onto one or more workstations (either directly, remotely or via Active Directory). The agent is invisible to the user, and has a simple dashboard that allows admins to set alarms for user activity notifications and track multiple user sessions in real time from a single screen. The agent collects title bars, URLs, and screenshots and can easily shut down applications or notify you of flagged usage. Monitoring up to three agents is free.
